welcome to county osteopaths
Irritability, mood swings, head-banging, violent outbursts, excessive tantrums or tearfulness may be natural expressions of a child’s personality. On the other hand they may be signs that the child is suffering from physical or mental stress. Treating physical stress in children is a Cranial Osteopath’s specialty and can help a great deal with problem behaviour.

Physical stress such as tension, discomfort or inflexibility in the child’s body become so “normal” to them that they do not recognize it is there as such but it does make them irritable, less able to deal with other stresses and may effect their ability to sleep.

Where underlying physical stress such as tension or discomfort exist, Cranial Osteopathic treatment can remove or reduce the physical stress and thereby improve the child’s behaviour.
To work out whether or not your child could benefit from Cranial Osteopathy ask yourself the following questions,

• Were there any difficulties in your pregnancy with this child that could have affected them?

• Were there any difficulties in the child’s birth that could have affected them?

OR

If the child’s “grumpiness / sensitivity / volatility began not at birth but some time later, ask yourself what triggered it?

• Was it triggered by an illness that caused a very high temperature or febrile convulsion?

• Did it start after a series of low grade infections for instance, ear, nose, throat or chest infections?

• Did it start after an accident?

If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” your child may benefit from Cranial Osteopathy please ring to discuss it with us.
