Osteopaths are particularly known for treating spinal joint pain but in fact,
joint pains almost anywhere in your body may be improved with Osteopathic
treatment.
So whether its arthritic pain in your thumb, a painful knee, a clicky jaw or
difficulties in any other joint - whether it’s recent or long term - we may be able to help you.
Treatment follows a detailed assessment and is aimed at easing muscle tension /
spasm and optimising joint movement in order to reduce pain and restore good
joint function.
We may find, for instance that there’s an imbalance in the muscles controling the joint or deep soft tissue tension
in nearby areas causing uneven use of a joint, too little or too much movement.
We aim to relieve tension and restore correct joint movement and thus to help
with your discomfort.
You may also need advice on exercise and simple “do’s and don’ts” and this advice is provided, along side treatment, during your appointment.
Osteopathy and Cranial Osteopathy are safe and effective treatments in most
cases. However, as Registered Osteopaths we are highly trained and know what we
can and cannot treat safely.
We take time and care to make sure we understand your individual needs and if we
cannot help you we will tell you so, explain why and suggest other avenues you
might try. This may include refering you to your GP or Specialist (with a
letter explaining our findings where necessary).
So with an osteopath you are in safe, well-trained hands.
