Irritable baby, cephal haematoma (9 wk old baby)
Harry was born a very discontented baby. I finally tried Cranial Osteopathy as recommended by my Health Visitor. I had 2 appointments and it was as if Harry changed instantly. He seemed so much more contented, his sleeping improved and he was feeding better also! I would never have thought of seeing an Osteopath but I wouid now recommend them to anyone in my position. Harry was a different baby. Thank You!!

Anger, aggression, frustration, banging his head (7 yr old)
Osteopathic treatment got to the bottom of the problem - a difficult birth. Cranial osteopathy helped relieve the pressure / tension leading to him feeling calmer, less aggressive, didn’t feel like banging his head.

Special Needs (8 yr old)  James has microcephalis, cysts in his brain, epilepsy and a few other wierd little complaints resulting from trauma in the womb and at eight years old he dribbled, had no speech, poor co-ordination, confused understanding of the world around him, severe learning difficulties and a mental age of around two to three years.  A lovely little chap, but frustrated by his lack of abilities and prone to outbursts of disobedience bordering on violence.

He has been seeing Joanna and John initially on a weekly basis, and now monthly, for nearly a year and the results have astounded us. Given his problems, it has been very difficult for them to treat him as he was constantly on the move within the consulting room, resulting in an effective treatment period of only a few minutes each time. Despite this, James' cognition and understanding levels have improved tremendously. He is much happier, more loving and settled within himself, less frustrated with his inability to comprehend requests and markedly calmer. The frequency of his fits have reduced considerably which makes for a better quality of life for him. Speech is beginning to emerge, we had a two word sentence the other day ! May not sound much, but it's a revelation. He now plays independently and can also join in much more with other children, he was becoming increasingly isolated knowing that he was different and unwelcome.

It's difficult to measure empirically the improvement, but we guess that he's put on at least two years of mental growth over the last couple of months and has won the prize for most improved pupil at school. We deliberately kept them in the dark about his treatment to see if they noticed independently and they are now remarking on how much happier he is, becoming involved and learning more. He's taking a positive interest in numbers and has a desire to read, all new stuff and something we didn't think we would ever see.

In all honesty, we have no idea how the osteopaths do what they do, you might think that light touching of the head shouldn't have any effect  - but it does. We can vouch that. James has made huge strides in his development in a comparatively short period and we would not hesitate to recommend that anyone in a similar situation, or with a child who is having any form of developmental delay or personality problems, should consider the treatment. Quite simply  -  it works. We now have a lovely little boy who is now happy, caring, far more content with life and continuing to develop and grow.

Glue Ear (toddler to 4 yrs old)
At 18 months old hearing tests at the hospital showed that my son had limited hearing which was also impacting his speech development.  The doctors thought that this had resulted from an ear infection when he was younger, but said that he was too young for grommets and it should clear itself over the next few years.  He visited County Osteopaths for several sessions over a month and then returned to the hospital for more hearing tests - which this time showed that his hearing was fine.

At 2 1/2 he started to lose concentration again and further hearing tests showed that his middle ear was very small and had become blocked again.  More cranial osteopathy sessions and it again cleared.

At age 3 1/2 he started to lose concentration and began ignoring us more than normal.  His teachers confirmed that he tended to "zone out" at times and was not happy in noisy situations or large crowds.  Hearing tests in April and the end of June showed that hearing in his left ear was poor and his right ear only a little better.  This time we were told he needed one further hearing test in order to be referred to the specialist (this time at Worcester) for discussing further action and possible surgery for glue ear.

He had two sessions with County Osteopaths during July.  At his third hearing test at hospital a week later we were preparing to discuss grommets, general anaesthetics, steroid nasal sprays etc.  I was told his hearing is fine and they discharged him!

Lynette is a very calming influence on the children and treated my son from the age of 18 months, when he sat quietly playing through the treatment, to nearly 4 when he was much more fidgety.  Having his older brother in the room was OK too and she managed to work around many distractions.

We are over the moon at avoiding an operation and also at not having to start him down the route of inhalers and nasal sprays.

On each occasion the change in my son's hearing happened within days of his second or third treatment.  His listening and concentration levels improved and he was less frustrated generally.  By treating him at such a young age he has managed to catch up with his speech development and he has now started school being able to hear well.  His confidence in crowded situations is improving daily and he can join in the noisy games with the rest of his friends at school.

SPD (pain in pelvis in pregnancy) aged 37
My SPD was so severe that I couldn't get out of bed unless I did it in slow motion, my ability to "hold on" when I needed the toilet went down hill drastically and to walk round during the day meant thinking about every step.
This all happened at 14 weeks and I wondered how on earth I was going to make it to the end. I went to the osteopath after just a few days and I couldnt beleive the results. Straight away I could stand up straight and walk normally! By the next day there was only a hint of the old pain left. I had one more treatment for the niggles that remained and that was it. A month later the pain came back in a milder form so I went to my osteopath again and it has never returned since even through my other pregnancies! I think this is because I did had treatment in between my pregnancies to ease the backache of hauling a car seat around. Miraculous, that's all I can say. Some of my friends have struggled on with a belt and an exercise sheet but I dont know why. If it was their dog they wouldnt spare it the best treatment! All I can say is if its a choice between "wear this belt and walk carefully dear" and an osteopath I know which one I'd choose.
